NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM BETWEEN FOOD SECURITY & SAFETY: SEARCHING FOR NEW CONCEPT

On Thursday, June 27th, 2019, a national symposium with a theme Between Food Security & Safety: Searching for New Concept has been held. This one-day event was held based on the cooperation between Central PATPI and Jakarta branch PATPI. There were six speakers attending the event, among others were Dr. dr. Tan Shot Yen, M.Hum; Prof. Dr. Aman Wirakartakusumah; Prof. Dr. Purwiyatno Hariyadi; Dr. Agung Hendriadi; Prof. Dr. Sri Raharjo; Dr. Roy Saparingga. The participants attending the event were not only PATPI members, but also the public and business actors. The purpose of this symposium is to discuss/find common points of perception of food security and food safety that have already existed, to reveal the reality of the existing food supply and solutions to health and social problems, to seek solutions to food security and food safety in Indonesia, and to find a more relevant new concepts of food security and safety.

The topic is delivered in two sessions. Participants were very enthusiastic about the presentation delivered by the speakers, one of which was the presentation given by Dr. dr. Tan Shot Yen, he explained thoroughly how to obtain proper nutrition and sustenance, which currently there are still many people who are misguided in choosing nutritional sources. The event was followed by the delivery of the discussion by the panels. This national symposium is one of the initial series of the Asean Food Conference activities that will be held in Bali in October 2019.
